TERRIFIC TEENS MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

We know that colleges are interested in what students are passionate about, how they give back to their communities and how they are making the world a better place!

We’re happy to share with you how some amazing teens have made the world a safer place for children and were recognized for their LET’S B SAFE community service projects.

Rubi & Maria taught children attending a Title I school how to be safe and the importance of reading at home every day!  They read LET’S B SAFE to at-risk youth in English and Spanish, promoted the BEE Safe theme and won FIRST PLACE in a civics and literacy contest sponsored by the Florida Department of Education!  It was their first time volunteering.

Gabrielle Barnett's LET'S B SAFE Community Service project provided women and children living in shelters with the knowledge they needed to help keep their children safe while also providing books for the children to read while homeless. Her project was such a hit in the community, that she earned the prestigious Girl Scouts of USA Gold Award - the achievement awarded to only 5.4% of eligible Girl Scouts. Way to go Gabrielle!

Zack received the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award for using his technology skills to support LET'S B SAFE with increased community awareness and prevention education.

Lexi was a high school student who wrote her first grant which provided books and plush BE SAFE bumblebees to every first grade student attending a Title I school.  The school is surrounded by an astonishingly high number of convicted sexual offenders living within walking distance of the school. ABC, NBC and CBS TV all covered the LET’S B SAFE Day Event. Lexi was then offered an internship with the www.dosomething.org
